Functional Rehabilitation
Combining chiropractic, soft tissue therapy, and specifically tailored exercise to increase performance and improve the quality of life.
Whether you are a professional athlete or not, corrective exercise is an essential component to your treatment plan. Rather than continuing to treat pain on a regular basis as it returns over and over again, our goal is to provide you the tools to empower you to not only get better faster, but to stay better longer!
Functional rehabilitation is an integral part of your recovery. While pain may bring you to our office, in many instances that pain is the result of long standing imbalances that finally surface. Just like a plaque in your arteries takes years to build up before leading to the eventual heart attack, so it is with your muscles, tendons, joints, and discs. Over time, little by little, those tissues become damaged and weakened (like gristle) until they one day become symptomatic.
As your pain begins to subside, corrective exercises can be prescribed specifically for your unique functional/biomechanical deficiencies. These exercises help you return to your sport, work demands, or activities of daily living with confidence. Unfortunately, this key component is forgotten by many practitioners who merely focus on removing pain (like taking an aspirin) without finding and correcting the underlying cause.
Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization
Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) enhances functional rehabilitation by retraining the body to activate deep stabilizing muscles based on ideal developmental movement patterns. This helps restore proper joint motion, improve motor control, and reduce compensatory movement, which are essential for long-term recovery and injury prevention. For chiropractors, DNS provides a clinical framework to combine manual therapy with corrective exercise. This improves both pain relief and performance outcomes by unlocking the body’s natural movement potential to restore function and thus reduce injury risk.
