Myofascial Therapy
More than just chiropractic…
While spinal adjustments are what make chiropractic so effective when it comes to the treatment and resolution of pain, ignoring the muscles, ligaments, and tendons will lead to a failure in resolving the underlying problem. Be it an acute or a chronic issue, the health of the soft tissues of the body is paramount when it comes to long lasting relief. When tissues are stressed and breakdown, they attempt to heal through building scar tissue. Picture muscle, ligaments, and tendons as strands of rope. When intact, all of the fibers line up to provide strength but also some elasticity. If you cut a rope and reconnect it, it forms a knot. The same thing happens in the soft tissues. We’ve all experienced those knots in our muscles, commonly know as trigger points. They are tender and can feel a bit ropey.
Soft tissue therapy helps reduce muscle tension, break down scar tissue, and improve circulation to accelerate healing and restore normal movement. Unlike rope, the soft tissues of the body are alive and through myofascial therapy can be effectively healed. Techniques like trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation (IASTM) target areas of restriction that may be contributing to pain, poor posture, or joint dysfunction. When combined with chiropractic care and Radial Pulse Wave, these therapies enhance mobility, decrease pain, and support longer-lasting results from spinal adjustments. Without addressing myofacial restrictions in the muscles and tendons, the true cause of pain is often missed and symptoms soon return.
